Steampunk fiction, reviews and interviews

Welcome to the Land Of Ire! Here you will find Steampunk reviews, interviews, musings and fiction from a wide variety of Steampunk writers, artists, musicians and creators as well as many random musings from a host of colourful characters who inhabit the Land Of Ire. Our blog schedule is  as follows:

The Morning Cuppa

Collin The Octopus and his Gentleman Friend ‘Eightcups Max’ invite you to join the in the parlour where they review some splendid steampunk fiction and recommend some excellent tea.

Join Max and Collin again for some tasty topical treats – learn more about the Land Of Ire and its inhabitants, discover fascinating facts about life in Victorian times, link up with our friends around the web or be pleasantly surprised by something random and exciting.

Soup Of The Day

Mrs Baker, our lovely Kitchen Witch invites a new Steampunk writer, maker, artist or musician to join her in the soup kitchen and chat about their work as they dish up some tasty soup to feed the hungry orphans of Ire.

Tea @ Three

An occasional bonus  post  – if  we have some news from Penny’s writing desk or have something extra and fabulous to squeeze in, it’ll go here!

Lovely Library

Our grumpy ghost, Perilous Wight, does not invite you to shelter from the flesh eating Liver Birds in his Lovely Library during the long dark nights of our Ireish winter. However, if you turn up with a bottle of something and a few flattering words he may be persuaded to read you some excellent short fiction from some marvellous steampunk writers, or even regale you with tales of his own adventures…

Seasonal Spectaculars

Look out for our seasonal features – Summer Postcards, Aether Eggs and Tales From Steampunk’d Lancaster featuring our very favourite authors and artists and showcasing new discoveries.

(And those dreadful wizards, Mercurio Smith and Johnathan Skarry, whose greed and misdeeds have arguably ruined the lives of all the other characters here )

The evil overlord Wiz has seized control of all the tea, cake and magic in the universe.  In a world crammed with dubious science and cream-powered technology, crippled by sugar tax and loose leaf ration books, overrun by cake smugglers, tea fiends and lemonade dealers, ruled over by Tea Time Lords and policed by vigilante mechanical angels, only a band of truly extraordinary adventurers can bring down this oppressive empire and save the good people of earth from this tea time tyranny. Could these two would-be wizards, Messrs Smith and Skarry, and their band of relentless rogues, be the anti-heroes The New World has been waiting for, or have they simply stirred up an enormous storm in a rather tiny teacup?

It’s a good thing y’all don’t drink coffee, or folks could really be in a tizzy!

There are government licensed ‘coffee houses’ in the New World; frequented by ardent Wiz-supporters. The coffee they serve is supposed to be a viable, healthy substitute for tea… you can choose from ground chicory or acorn coffee… these brews are supposed to be ‘lightly invigorating’ but we have heard the snores of the patrons as we pass by and we suspect it is another government ploy to subdue the good people of Ire. Mrs Baker keeps a little jar of ‘real coffee’ – generously donated by one of her inter-dimensional visitors – but she keeps it well hidden from the likes of Max and Collin 😉
