#RainbowSnippets: Jack and Marjory
Happy Saturday! Here’s my #RainbowSnippets post for this week – if you’re new to this, Rainbow Snippets is a chance to read and share 6 sentences of LGBTQIA+ fiction every Saturday. There’s a huge variety from Steampunk, like mine, to Romance, Fantasy, Paranormal, Comedy and everything in between. You can join the fun and read all the other fabulous snippets at the wonderfully friendly and supportive official facebook group here 🙂
So, here is the next snippet from Jack and Marjory – my novella-in-progress which gives two of my Bi-Gendered characters a chance to tell something of their own little side-adventure, which actually had a massive impact on the history of Ire in a ‘behind-the-scenes’ kind of way.
If you missed last week’s snippet you can catch up here: #RainbowSnippets: Jack and Marjory

Jack and Marjory have at last arrived at the Inn where the teaset is supposedly waiting for them, only to find it full of law enforcers, one of whom now has them cornered round the back of the Inn…
« Here it is then. »
He’s laughin. His great onion peeling out the chimes with ludicrous indiscretion considering his elaborate bloody charade thus far. Thus far, we consider him the Lord High Git… as he dangles the rusted old mortice on its filthy bit of string about an inch between us; when Max had said someone would ‘bump into us and give us the key’, we’d honestly expected somethin’ a little more… subtle.
« Right. Cheers. What a wit. »
« You wot, son ? »
A wit. What a wit. What a wit you must posess eh ? To favour us with such an amusing jest.
« Nothin, Pal. Stone cold nanty. Thanks for the key, eh? Nicely done.»
The Prune grins, claps us on the shoulder and shuffles off back to whatever school of execrable comedy he graduated from.
being an entertaining and informative piece of travel writing by a couple of rogues on the run as they attempt to avoid the machinations of wizards, monarchs and a ruthless band of beatnik poets, deflect a civil war and deliver a priceless, historical tea set before the owner finds himself at the gallows.
Wishing you all a most splendiferous week and don’t forget to check in at the #rainbowsnippets facebook group for more fabulous snippets of LGBTQIA+ fiction 🙂

I’m trying to keep straight what persona the kids are projecting at this point. Is this cat a real copper that is dirty, or someone portraying the Law? In any case, he should not tease the kiddies like that.

They’re fuming angry at this point – and at the same time still a bit too scared to come right out and have a fight about it, because they’re not sure either whether he’s a real copper who Max has bribed or someone impersonating the law as a cover – that part will become clear eventually but not for a long while. You are right though, either way he is definitely a nasty piece of work to pull that joke in a situation where their necks are on the line – definitely a bit of a git!

Lord High Git. No one had better ask me again where the Appalachian dialect comes from. *smirk* Great snippet.
