Happy Saturday!

An exciting thing has happened this week – I’ve finally bitten the bullet and set up  our Patreon page to try and help get the Ashton’s Kingdom series published properly. There are free books and other goodies at every level and you can chose to become a Lemonade Dealer, Skywayman, Land Pirate or Tea Time Lord and receive tailored posts and goodies designed to inescapably immerse you in our crazy, diverse, inclusive world of tea, cake and punk magic 🙂 Please feel free to share and spread the word if you think it looks like fun 🙂

Here’s my #RainbowSnippets post for this week – if you’re new to this, Rainbow Snippets is a chance to read and share 6 sentences of LGBTQIA+ fiction every Saturday. There’s a huge variety from Steampunk, like mine, to Romance, Fantasy, Paranormal, Comedy and everything in between. You can join the fun and read all the other fabulous snippets at the wonderfully friendly and supportive official facebook group here 🙂

So, here is the next snippet from Jack and Marjory – my novella-in-progress which gives two of my Bi-Gendered characters a chance to tell something of their own little side-adventure, which actually had a massive impact on the history of Ire in a ‘behind-the-scenes’ kind of way.

If you missed last week’s snippet you can catch up here: #RainbowSnippets: Jack and Marjory

If you want to start from the beginning you can do so here: https://blakeandwight.com/2018/09/29/rainbowsnippets-jack-and-marjory/

Jack and Marjoy have just decided they will not go to sleep after all but keep careful watch over the tea set all night…

We must have woken within seconds of the intruders entering the room, but that’s never really something to boast about is it ?

“Marjory? Now don’t panic…”

Never in the course of human history have those two words had any effect other than the exact opposite of their intended one.

We panicked. We tore at the aether and flung shards of white hot energy every which way, damaging ourselves and the room as much, or perhaps more, than  anyone else.

Sparks flew back. Another hex slinger?

“Damn it to Hull, children, behave will you or we’ll have the entire place up and at us! Marjory…and Jack…quit trying to kill us and help us get this chest out and down to the van before anyone wakes up.”

What? We was distressed to say the least. “Who the Hull are you? Wot the Sunken Hull is goin’ on?”

JACKANDMARJORYCOVER

being an entertaining and informative piece of travel writing by a couple of rogues on the run as they attempt to avoid the machinations of wizards, monarchs and a ruthless band of beatnik poets, deflect a civil war and deliver a priceless, historical tea set before the owner finds himself at the gallows.

Wishing you all a most splendiferous week and don’t forget to check in at the #rainbowsnippets facebook group for more fabulous snippets of LGBTQIA+ fiction 🙂

  3. I think they need to learn to be careful about what they’re aiming at. Hopefully they didn’t damage the tea set.

Lol, definitely! Professional hex-slinging in a ring and back-alley brawling is very different to defending yourself suddenly and with precision in a tight pinch!

  4. Too true about the effects of the words, “don’t panic,” but it almost looks in the end like they might have overreacted? 💖

  5. They wouldn’t have anyone who’d sent them help, would they?
