#RainbowSnippets: Necromancers

Happy Saturday! And if you’re not sick of hearing it by now ‘Happy New Year’! I hope 2020 brings the biggest blessings on all your writing endeavours!

I have now finished Necromancers, my wonderful editor has polished it up and soon it will be ready for print and ebook.

If anyone would like an Advance Review Copy in the form of a pdf, shout at me on here or on facebook and I will be happy to send you one 🙂

In the meantime, here’s a bit more from Viv and Reynard but just before I post their next snippet, I want to share with you this song by Victorious because it’s totally their song. I hadn’t heard it when I started writing this but when my daughter played it to me I immediately thought ‘this is them, this is utterly them.’ lol, maybe you know it already but I’m not very good with modern music!

And here’s my #RainbowSnippets post for this week, if you’re new to this, Rainbow Snippets is a chance to read and share 6 sentences of LGBTQIA+ fiction every Saturday. There’s a huge variety from Steampunk, like mine, to Romance, Fantasy, Paranormal, Comedy and everything in between. You can join the fun and read all the other fabulous snippets at the wonderfully friendly and supportive official facebook group here.

About 500 plus years after the events in the first book (The Curious Adventures Of Smith And Skarry) a forgotten cult are still obliviously serving their long-dead leader, Wiz, and trying to find the secret of immortality. Sort of. Actually daily temple life revolves more around knitting circles, bridge nights and summer fetes… until two novices stumble upon the secret of undeath themselves and unleash a couple of very unlikely ‘gods’ upon the unprepared and erstwhile peaceful community.

If you missed the last part you can catch up here: #RainbowSnippets: Necromancers

And here’s a sneak peek at some of the lovely interior chapter artwork by Jiewsurreal :

This is 8 sentences but I wanted to squeeze Reynards reply in there at the end! To recap, Reynard has just asked Viv what his plan is for dealing with Reynard’s ‘rogue, baby-eating flock’ … Vivienne speaks first…

“Maybe I don’t want to have a plan this time, maybe I quit, maybe this is the straw that breaks my overburdened hump and I shuffle off down the valley to end my days selling home-made damson preserve and hand this one over to the Papess to deal with…”
“You wouldn’t!”
“I’m so incensed, I could do anything! Perhaps I’ll just hand you this little hot potato? Hm? I know how much you love to cook! You can be the one to stand in the… tsunami of excrement created, yet again, by the over indulgence of your surrogate demon-spawn with a… with a theraline square the size of a moth’s hanky… trying to mop up the… bloody… mess! Hm? Maybe then you’d stop bloody bosom suckling them on bloody moral laxatives!”
Reynard took a deep breath, stood up and crossed the room to the desk. “I can see you’re upset.”

Happy New Year everyone! And don’t forget to check out all the other fabulous snippets on the official fb page here: official facebook group here.

  1. Moral laxatives might not be so bad if that is the delivery system…

  2. I laughed out loud at that last line and woke up my dogs and had to give them animal crackers so they’d go back to sleep.

  5. I couldn’t agree more with everyone else about Reynard’s reply after Vivienne’s rantalot 😂 It was magnificent😁 I’m sorry I’m so late, my new laptop is being a bit…random.😳 The song is fabulously them and Jiewsurreal’s artwork is fantastic, I love that you’ve included it in the book; it’s the perfect complement to your writing.❤️🥰❤️

I am always all over the place and never organised enough to notice whether someone else is on the ball or not! XD Aw I’m really glad you love the song and the artwork as well, thankyou! xxxx

      • Aw, you’re welcome ❤️I’m real glad you didn’t notice I’m gone amiss😳. The laptop is working a treat — except for wordpress — it doesn’t even recognised that I’m signed in. I have no bar at the top of my screen and can only like and comment from ‘My Site’ page which was (fortunately) bookmarked else I’d have no way of accessing it.😲 Scoundrels. pft. Oh I do! 🥰xxxxx

Oh bless you honey – I’ve had probs with wordpress on two of my laptops too and so has another friend so it’s not just yours – I’m not sure if it’s a browser or antivirus setting problemor something but I’ve tried all I can think of and still have the same prob as you – only being able to like and comment from my wordpress reader. It really is annoying! I hope you get it sorted eventually xxxxxxx

      • I’m sorry you’re suffering too…I got so fed up of it last night I thought ‘right’ I’m going to work this out if it mangles my marbles or not…😳 I’ve sorted it! 😊 It is an issue affecting lots of peeps, it seems. It’s a cookie problem. I found a question here with a solution that worked a treat: https://support.google.com/accounts/thread/5361543?hl=en

Here tis in brief so you don’t have to wade through the responses:

Ah thank you! Yes, it’s the cookies.
        On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click More > Settings.
At the bottom, click > Advanced.
Under “Privacy and security,” click > Site settings > Cookies.
Turn Allow sites to save and read cookie data on or off.

I now have the bar back at the top of my blog page, (which had vanished too) and can like and comment wherever I wish.🤗 I do so hope that helps sort yours 🥰 xxxxxxx

lol, I’m glad you found them both amusing! I think Viv was channelling Malcolm from The Thick Of It at that point! XD – and yep Reynard must be feeling chilly he’s keeping that fire so well stoked… XD
